This is the daily diary of The Daily Times which is about what I'm think about and what I'm seeing online, whether it's Twitter, Google, YouTube, or even in my own personal email. And I'll share things that I'm seeing from time to time (hopefully daily) about what I'm seeing, what I know about, what I think about it, and why I believe it's important.

To go to Ricks's point, I would love to see Uncle Sam come out and give speech talking about the failures of the War On Drugs and apologize for the 50 years of hell that he's put every victim of this so-called war and is now refunding every dollar of his trillions of dollars war and giving that money back to the American people.

8/25/2021 - In the 1950s, the faces of the Republican Party were Progressives, like President Dwight Eisenhower, Nelson Rockefeller, Tom Dewey and many others. Ike was probably our first great civil rights President and he was a Republican.
James Miller Center: "Although there were dangerous moments in the Cold War during the 1950s, people often remember the Eisenhower years as "happy days," a time when Americans did not have to worry about depression or war, as they had in the 1930s and 1940s, or difficult and divisive issues, as they did in the 1960s. Instead, Americans spent their time enjoying the benefits of a booming economy. Millions of families got their first television and their second car and enjoyed new pastimes like hula hoops or transistor radios. Young people went to drive-in movies or malt shops, often wearing the latest fashions—pegged pants for men, poodle skirts for women.
Yet the Eisenhower years were not so simple or carefree, and the President faced important and, at times, controversial issues in domestic affairs. Managing the economy involved important choices about how to maintain prosperity or how much to spend on what we today call "infrastructure." Protecting freedom and the rule of law necessitated difficult decisions as civil rights became an urgent national issue. Dealing with the effects of the Cold War at home required complicated action because of the sensational charges of Senator Joseph R. McCarthy about Communist infiltration of government agencies. In the eyes of a majority of the public, Eisenhower usually made the right choices, as he often enjoyed approval ratings of more than 70 percent in the polls. Yet Eisenhower also had critics, who believed that he had not used his powers as President vigorously or effectively to protect individual freedom and ensure justice."
8/26/2021 - For me at least, Ross Perot's Reform Party represents the early days of the Tea Party from the last decade. Americans who were fed up with debt and deficits, unemployment, skeptical about free trade and our oversees involvements, who weren't pushing a big government social agenda. Not the radical centrists that they portrayed as, but Center-Right Conservatives who were interested in fiscal responsibility and economic freedom.

8/27/2021 - If you want to know what Donald Trump's base is: just look at Governor George Wallace's base in 1968 and before that. Because they share the exact same nationalistic, cultural, religious, and even racial and ethnic beliefs.
My San Antonio: "Remember Lyndon LaRouche? He either ran or tried to run for the Democratic nomination for president at least seven times starting in 1980.
Remember George Wallace, who sought to be the Democrats’ nominee twice — in 1964 and 1972 — with a run as a third party candidate in 1968?
Both were scorned by the party establishment, LaRouche as anti-Semitic, racist and more cult leader than leading political figure. Wallace, he of standing-in-the-doorway-to-stop-desegregation fame, was characterized as just plain racist.
Neither became the party’s nominee, and both were widely reviled and denounced, though Wallace did have a following among stubborn Dixiecrats in the South and so-called hardhats in the Midwest and other parts of the country."

Only Neoconservatives (who've been out-of-power since 2009) have been arguing for an indefinite occupation of Afghanistan. The rest of the county wants us out of there and perhaps do some nation building in our own country and making sure America is as secure as possible at home.

9/01/2021 - Just for the record: I'm pro- choice on practically everything, just as long the personal choice doesn't involve hurting another innocent person. So no, I'm not in favor of the Texas abortion ban.
But for any so-called pro-choice Democrat who says that are also against this law, I have a question for them: did you bother to vote in 2016? If Democrats voted in 2016, Hillary Clinton wins the presidency and probably gets two center-left Supreme Court justices through a Democratic Senate, giving them a 5-4 majority on the Supreme Court.
Elections have consequences. When your party doesn't even vote, it means the other party is now in charge. With a 5-4 Democratic majority, the Texas abortion probably gets thrown out. But with a 6-3 Republican majority, more of these laws are going to get passed and held up as constitutional.
New York Post: "A strict new measure that essentially bans abortions in Texas went into effect at midnight, despite protests and lawsuits against the harsh mandate.
The law prohibits women from getting an abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, and gives citizens the right to take legal action against doctors or anyone else who helps a woman terminate a pregnancy.
Most women who get an abortion in the Lone Star State are at least six weeks pregnant — the earliest a heartbeat can be detected — and will now be unable to receive the procedure, according to Planned Parenthood and Whole Woman’s Health.
The Texas bill differs from other similar “heartbeat laws” nationwide because it bars authorities from enforcing the ban, and allows anyone else — including people who live outside the state — to take legal action."

5/25/2022 - Independent Florida: "Nope, don't even know how that applies. You said you were against someone that goes right on some issues and left on others. Did I misinterpret?"

Kire Schneider: "Well, you asked me "what should the Jan. 6 committee charge Eastman with?" The point is that the House can't charge anyone with anything. They can only hold people in contempt of Congress."
Robert Simms: "like I said, the committee can recommend charges to the DOJ, though. So what charges do you think the committee should RECOMMEND to the DOJ concerning Eastman?"
Kire Schneider: "Well as Eric Herschmann said (who is a lawyer) John Eastman probably needs a good criminal defense lawyer now. So I would let DOJ worry about it. Still standing today after extensive renovations. I slowed down the fist few seconds of the film because it goes by so quickly. You also get a view of the sign showing the teams playing that day. Also seen in this film is the grain silo that stills stands at the foot of Bathurst Street."
7/29/2022 - Kire Schneider: The Argonauts came back to Baltimore to play the Stallions in the CFL Eastern Playoffs later that season. Even though they were only 7-11, they made the playoffs that season.

9/19/2022 - Kire Schneider: Fred Biletnikoff was 37 when he came back to football to play for the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL, he caught 38 passes, for 470 yards. He's one of the best possession receivers in the history of pro football and probably couldn't be guarded in the NFL today, because of the lax defenses and how hard the NFL has come down on strong defense, especially in the passing game.
JJ Governor Carrier: "NFL superstar came out of retirement in 1980 to play for the CFL's Alouettes."
9/20/2022 - Kire Schneider: Dieter Brock is one of the best CFL QB's ever, at least in the 1970s and 80s. He probably could've had a successful career in the NFL, where he did have a good year in 1985 with the Los Angeles Rams, if he just got an opportunity sooner.
Set The Edge: "The timeline of Dieter Brock's NFL career is completely unmatched by anyone who has ever played in the league now or ever. Playing nearly his entire career in the CFL, it wasn't until the tail end of Brock's pro days that he decided to pursue a starting job for an NFL team. Despite skepticism, he exceeded nearly all expectations in his single year with the 1985 Rams, setting franchise rookie records in all major categories and leading the team to a playoff berth with an 11-5 record on the season. Things would end by meeting a brick wall in the 1985 Chicago Bears later in the NFC Championship, erasing almost all respect for Brock in the eyes of Rams fans, but in this video I want to talk about how strange his NFL success was in the scheme of the league's history, and why he deserves to be remembered as more than just a fluke."

9/21/2022 - Kire Schneider: Yeah, the Montreal Alouettes signing Vince Ferragamo to the huge contract, that was more than twice what the Los Angeles Rams was going to pay him, which was $250,000 in 1981, which would've made him a millionaire by NFL standards back then, was a George Steinbrenner size mistake by the Alouettes. It is a 101 lesson on how not to run a pro football franchise.
Ferragamo would've been a very good NFL QB, perhaps becoming a consistent Pro Bowler and leading the Rams back to the Super Bowl and even winning the Super Bowl with John Robinson, Eric Dickerson, and the o-line, receivers, and defense that the Rams had in the 1980s. But he was only interested in making as much money as he could.
JJ Governor Carrier: "Super Bowl starter arrived in 1981 from the L.A. Rams as a high-priced free agent, but his failure in the CFL eventually led to financial ruin for the Nelson Skalbania-owned marquee franchise."
9/22/2022 - Kire Schneider: Warren Moon is clearly the best American QB, the CFL ever had, who should've been drafted by the NFL right away. But most of the NFL wasn't ready for an African-American QB yet. There really isn't any other reason for why Warren Moon had to wait so long for the NFL.

9/26/2022 - Kire Schneider: I would like to know why Raghib Ismail went to the CFL, since he was obviously an NFL caliber football player. But based on the money that the Argonauts offered him and that he was making more money than the rest of the team combined, you would have to think that has to be part of it.

9/27/2022 - Kire Schneider: For some reason Montreal didn't have a CFL franchise (even though it's the second largest media market in Canada) for like nine seasons from 1987-95. But they did have the Montreal Machine from 1991-92.

9/28/2022 - Kire Schneider: I believe what Lis Smith is arguing here is completely political, as well as politically practical. She's arguing instead of nationalizing political campaigns and saying that all Democrats need to be alike ideologically, that Democrats should instead campaign for their constituents and campaign in the districts and states that they're campaigning in. Instead of trying be like other Democrats.
Vanity Fair: "TOUR OF DUTY Lis Smith on Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign bus during a four-day tour of Iowa in September 2019.
"Having advised everyone from Andrew Cuomo to Pete Buttigieg to rising star Mallory McMorrow, the seasoned strategist fancies herself a political interpreter in a fragmented party. “When you’re going door-to-door in South Dakota,” she tells Vanity Fair, “you really understand that there are many different ways to be a Democrat.”
Lis Smith blazes into the neon-lit bar on a Friday night, wearing Daisy Duke cutoffs and high-top Vans, ordering the cheapest beer on draft, and queuing up Whitesnake’s hair-metal classic “Here I Go Again” on the jukebox. “I’m meeting you in here in booty shorts,” Smith acknowledges. “This is how I dress when I go around the West Village in the summer.
We’re not far from Smith’s New York City apartment, and the Democratic operative is already living up to her shoot-from-the-hip reputation. According to Smith’s recent memoir, Any Given Tuesday: A Political Love Story, Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC’s Morning Joe once advised her to tone down her “sex kitten act” if she wanted to be taken seriously as the brains behind the Pete Buttigieg campaign for president in 2020, a meteoric political run that Smith helped architect. Others might have viewed Brzezinski’s advice as sexist, but not Smith.
“In a perfect world,” she says, “women would wear whatever they wanted, look however they wanted, and no one would form their impressions of them based on that. But it’s not how the world works. And it’s especially not how the world works in a male-dominated industry.”
In a sense, this pragmatic insight—Smith took Brzezinski’s advice, switching to jeans and cowboy boots—encapsulates her brand of political wisdom. As a next-gen gunslinger who’s worked with everybody from Senator Claire McCaskill to President Barack Obama, she wants to school Democrats on how to win races in polarized America. She’s come under fire for criticizing what she calls “the online leftist echo chamber” that she says turns off voters who reside somewhere west of Manhattan and right of AOC. When Smith recently told Vanity Fair’s Inside the Hive podcast that the left’s “schoolmarm vibe” alienated voters, it sparked blowback that Smith was using “gendered” language in her critique. “They proved my point!” she says, downing her beer."
9/29/2022 - Kire Schneider: The Vancouver Whitecaps are the most famous and most successful, at least of the NASL soccer franchises. But Canada has had other major soccer franchises, like the Toronto Blizzard.
9/30/2022 - Kire Schneider: The Toronto Blizzard were 14-16 in 1979, finished 3rd in the NASL East. But they made the playoffs, sort of like an NHL team from the 1980s, where you didn't need to be good to make the playoffs, just good enough.

10/04/2022 - Kire Schneider: Looks like they played this game at Comiskey Park in Chicago, instead at Soldier Field. Interesting that they would play a championship soccer game at a baseball park, when they could've used Soldier Field, which was obviously a lot better for soccer, than a baseball park.

10/17/2022 - Kire Schneider: Apparently CBC News anchor Peter Mansbridge thought the success of the Toronto Blue Jays was important enough to put them on his national, nightly, newscast. Great year to be a Blue Jays fan at Toronto Exhibition Stadium in the mid and late 1980s, because they had a of talent.
CBC News: "CBC reporter Claude Adams reports on the history of the Toronto Blue Jays on October 8, 1985."
10/18/2022 - Kire Schneider: In the 1980s, Lloyd Moseby was a very good, borderline All Star, 5-tool player. And then he ends up in Detroit playing for the Tigers. Maybe Toronto Exhibition Stadium and that hard field was a big reason for his early success.
MLB: "10/9/85: Lloyd Moseby's single in the bottom of the 10th scores Tony Fernandez, tying the score at 5 for the Blue Jays."

Kire Schneider: "Beats the hell out of me."
10/24/2022- Kire Schneider: It must be devastating to win 96 out of 1962 games in the MLB and not even qualify for the playoffs. But that's exactly what the Blue Jays did in 1987. The Tigers were just a couple games better and clinched the AL East at Detroit Tiger Stadium.
All Day Blue Jays: "Probably the worst day in Blue Jays history. They had a 3.5 game lead over the Tigers with seven games left, but lost all seven games, including a sweep by the Tigers in the last three games. However, the Blue Jays persevered and won the East two years later, before winning back-to-back World Series in 1992 and 1993. The Tigers lost that year's ALCS and didn't make it back to the playoffs until 2006. (September 5, 1987 at Tiger Stadium.)"

11/18/2022 - Kire Schneider: This was back when NASL franchises had both an outdoor, as well as an indoor soccer team. The MLS should do that as well, because it would save major league pro indoor soccer in America and Canada.
11/21/2022 - Kire Schneider: The Edmonton Drillers also had an indoor soccer franchise in the NPSL and I think the NASL. They were around a long time, before they went out of business. The Drillers playing the Chicago Sting, in the 1981 NASL Finals.

POLITICO: Update: It’s day three of chaos in the House GOP and McCarthy’s speakership bid just fell short again on the 7th vote.
After the first six failures this week to secure the necessary 218 votes, the California Republican and some of his GOP critics got in a room yesterday for what both sides say were productive conversations. McCarthy offered them new concessions, such as:
➡️ Lowering the threshold needed to force a vote ousting a speaker to just one member
➡️ Giving the House Freedom Caucus two seats on the powerful House Rules Committee, which oversees the amendment process for the floor
But those proposed compromises (link in bio for the others) have yet to move a single GOP holdout. And if the dealmaking goes as far as endorsing some of these conservatives for committee gavels, it’s bound to piss off many House Republicans who want those seats and have been team players all along. Centrists or even mainstream conservatives would no doubt argue McCarthy would be rewarding bad behavior and putting his speakership dream above the party’s best interests.
“He’s essentially given away all the power of the speakership. He’s making it to where these Freedom Caucus guys can stop anything they want,” one senior Republican aide complained to us last night. “It’s a vanity project. This majority is going to be miserable.”
More on McCarthy’s latest proposed rules, how many of the GOP detractors are “hard nos” and what might happen next at the link in our bio.

Vanity Fair: Here's another thriller to add to your watch list. Your exclusive first look at the #TheLastThingHeToldMe, starring Jennifer Garner, Angourie Rice, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, has arrived.
Based on @lauradaveauthor’s novel of the same name, the forthcoming Apple TV+ series stars Garner as Hannah, a newlywed 40-something searching for answers after he husband's seemingly sinister disappearance.
Originally meant to star Julia Roberts, Garner tells VF once she heard of the actress’ exit, the role had to be hers: “I felt such a connection to the character, even though I’ve been a mom for a minute, I can really understand looking at the world of teenagers and feeling like, Okay, what is the path forward? What am I supposed to do?”

1/30/2023 - @maryjruwart: Clearly, drug prohibition is directed at a relatively minor problem.
Indeed, drug prohibition actually kills more people than the drugs themselves! We pay a high price for the failure of drug prohibition.
Since 1989, the War on Drugs has killed up to 14 times as many people each year as the drugs themselves. These deaths include AIDS spread by contaminated needles, overdose deaths caused by black-market side effects, and homicides resulting from turf fighting and other drug-related murders.
Like alcohol Prohibition, drug prohibition is a cure much worse than the disease.
Kire Schneider: The so-called War On Drugs is sort of like the abusive father who beats up his son because he gets bad grades. The definition of counterproductive.
Kire Schneider: I Want To Live (1958) is based on the true crime story of career criminal Barbara Graham. It's definitely Susan Hayward's best film. You see her full talents as an entertainer in that film, including her very quick and excellent sense of humor and comedic timing.
Rotten Tomatoes: This film tells the riveting true story of brazen bad girl Barbara Graham (Susan Hayward, in an Academy Award-winning performance), a perpetual offender who tries to go straight but is sent to death row after being implicated in a murder. When journalist Ed Montgomery (Simon Oakland), whose initial newspaper articles on Barbara's crime played up her recklessness, becomes convinced that she may be innocent, he begins a desperate campaign to save her from the gas chamber.

Kire Schneider: This story is what's known as a reality plot line, or soap opera. Only Hollywood could make this up.
Kire Schneider: This might not sound like anything, but Hollywood Goddess Susan Hayward might be best looking woman that's ever been to prison, at least in film. She was absolutely beautiful in I Want To Live. Especially for a death row inmate, that might be innocent.
IMDB: A prostitute, sentenced to death for murder, pleads her innocence.

Kire Schneider: Hollywood Goddess Susan Hayward, as death row inmate Barbara Graham, in I Want To Live. Just look at her face and expressions, you are going to have a helluva time finding a better actress.
2/02/2023 - Mary J. Ruwart: It's a crime when government:
- releases murderers & rapists from prison to make space for people who use #drugs
- imprisons #whistleblowers for pointing out that its own actions are against the law
- arrests people for feeding the #homeless when government fails to help them.
Kire Schneider: You can't be a fiscal conservative (whatever that's supposed to mean today) and support the War On Drugs, because of how wasteful and bloated it is, and completely funded by American tax dollars.
@politico: Rep. Ilhan Omar gave a defiant speech before House Republicans voted to oust her from the Foreign Affairs Committee today.
“My leadership and voice will not be diminished if I am not on this committee for one term. ... So take your vote or not. I am here to stay and I am here to be a voice against harms around the world and advocate for a better world,” the Minnesota progressive said.
Republican leaders worked for more than a week to secure the votes to pass the resolution, which cited Omar’s past comments about Israel as antisemitic. A few GOP members initially seemed reluctant to boot her, but in the end, the party was almost totally united in a 218-211-1 vote (Republican Rep. Dave Joyce voted present).
This is the third time since 2021 that a House majority has forcibly removed a member of the opposition party from a committee. During the last Congress, Dems removed GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar from their panels over incendiary comments and social media posts they had made concerning fellow lawmakers.
Kire Schneider: If that's the case, then Representative Omar has nothing to worry about. She can speak out against Jews and the State of Israel all she wants and let her voters decide if they want her to continue to represent them.

Kire Schneider: The Red Wings-Blackhawks matchup is one of the best and most physical rivalries in the entire NHL. Great games to watch, if you love old school hockey.
Skif Usya: "Two Norris Division rivals off to disappointing starts to the 1985-86 season meet in this mid-December matchup in Chicago Stadium. Detroit's offensive trio of Steve Yzerman, John Ogrodnick and Ron Duguay keeps the Wings in the game, but Denis Savard's hat trick (including a penalty shot goal) and Doug Wilson's late marker tip the balance in Chicago's favor. Play by play and color commentary provided by Mike Lange and Brad Park, who would replace Harry Neale as coach in Detroit approximately two weeks later. This game also provides a bit of trivia in the form of Bob Probert's first NHL point, an assist on Ed Johnstone's goal, his last in the NHL."
Kire Schneider: Another beautiful, sexy woman, with a gun. This seems to be a popular thing in #MAGA country.
Kire Schneider: Both the Blackhawks and Red Wings having an off year in 1989. But always an interesting matchup at the Joe Louis Arena.
Skif Usya: "One of sport's cliches is that the breaks tend to even themselves out over time. In this particular illustration, a couple of major breaks (or remarkable circumstances) between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings were evened out in the 1988-89 season over a time period of three months and two days. One day after his acquisition, Alain Chevrier makes his Chicago debut as the team begins an important road trip in Joe Louis Arena. 2/15/2023 - Mary J. Ruwart: The libertarian movement is a reflection of this desire for freedom at the physical level.
For political freedom to manifest, we have to incorporate the spiritual aspect of freedom -- mutual love and respect.
Kire Schneider: When I think of Libertarians, I think of people who believe in both economic property rights, as well as personal property rights, and the government that governs closest to home, is the best government. I don't think of right-wing Anarchists or antigovernment voluntarists.

2/18/2023 - Mary J. Ruwart: Banning or regulating weapons will not prevent all situations in which we must kill or be killed. #Gun bans themselves are acts of aggression. They stop people—at gunpoint, if necessary—from having or using firearms. #GunControl is the ultimate contradiction. #libertarian
Kire Schneider: Anyone who is an absolutist on anything relating to the U.S. Constitution and our amendments, is not a constitutionalist. There are limits to all of our individual rights, including the 2nd Amendment. We can always protect the rights of the innocent to own firearms, while preventing criminals and the mentally irresponsible from getting firearms.

Kire Schneider: Check out this beautiful, sexy, cowgirl.
Kire Schneider: It's always great to see Clyde Drexler vs Dominique Wilkins at the Atlanta Omni. But Clyde was the. better all around player. And the Blazers generally had better teams.
Lamar Matic: "Coming in to this game in late March commentators Pete van Wieren and Dick Versace joke about how Nique should compete with Jordan for the scoring title of the 1992/93 season. Well, this wasn't a bad effort to do so by Wilkins as he goes for 48 points against the Portland Trail Blazers. Nique does his magic the way he usually does it - coming off screens and then going one on one with his defender to make acrobatic layups or floating jumpshots. March 29, 1993.
2/21/2023 - Mary J. Ruwart: By working through government, we take turns being majorities & minorities, victims & aggressors. What is done by one group is undone by another. We spend all of our time, money, & effort fighting against each other instead of simply all deciding for ourselves. #libertarian
Kire Schneider: This sounds like an antidemocratic statement. If you think there should be government at all, (regardless of what size and in what form) how should our leaders be chosen?

2/22/2023 - Kire Schneider: This is obviously before Bernard King broke his leg during the 1985 season. Bernard King to me was a better version of Dominique Wilkins, someone who was a great all around scorer, but with more of an all around game.
Lamar Matic: "Another legendary game that had disappeared from youtube's archives - Bernard King's sixty point performance on Christmas. Just as with the Glen Rice game I uploaded yesterday - I reckon that I don't have to tell you anything about this game. I just want to say that Bernard King's low post game is truly astonishing. You may notice that the Nets keep switching defenders (Jeff Turner, Kevin McKenna, Buck Williams, Michael Ray Richardson, George Johnson, Kelvin Ransey - every one of them guarded Bernard for some time, heck, I might have even forgot somebody) on King all game long, however, Bernard just keeps putting them in foul trouble. Jeff Turner got called for a foul four times (!!!) in the opening quarter, while McKenna amassed three personals. December 25, 1984."
2/23/2023 - Mary J. Ruwart: Aggression-through-government has created most of the poverty in the world today. Trying to alleviate this poverty with more aggression ends up making the poor poorer. Whether aggression is undertaken by individuals or governments, the means are the ends. #libertarian
Kire Schneider: Professor Milton Friedman had a good theory about lobbying and government. He said the more power that you have in Washington, the more lobbyists that you'll have trying to influence politicians. But if you decentralize power, you'll have fewer lobbyists.
Kire Schneider: Never heard Van Miller call an NBA game before. Good game between the Buffalo Braves and Celtics, from the Boston Garden, from 1974.
2/24/2023 - Mary J. Ruwart: Mary J. Ruwart: #Taxation & other forms of aggression-through-government are so taken for granted that we say, "Nothing is certain except death & taxes". #Slavery was once as universal. Taxation is now thought to be indispensable, just as slavery once was.
Kire Schneider: No. Taxes are the fees that we pay for the government that we need, to do for us what we need it do. Just like fees that people pay to be members of a club.
Kire Schneider: Sounds like Don Criqui and Steve Jones calling this game at the Richfield Coliseum. Two of my favorite announcers growing up.
Lamar Matic: "Although this is Marvin Barnes's best stint during his time in the NBA, it's already a Bad News bothered by off-court problems. You can see how talented he actually is. After years of drug use he still has good range, can slam it down and is a great rebounder (I think he definitely had over 10 rebounds in this game in some limited 20 minutes). Yet you can notice that he's gasping for air, is sort of off-balance and misses shots he would have made during his years with the Spirits. December 25, 1977."
2/26/2023 - Kire Schneider: Check out this beautiful, adorable, sexy, cowgirl. I love baby face cowgirls with the beautiful bodies. They may seem like little girls when you are talking to them or just looking at their faces, but they're actually very sexy women.

Kire Schneider: The reason why Baltimore lost the Bullets, is the same reason why they don't have an NBA franchise today, almost 50 years after losing the Bullets. They didn't have a modern sports arena in the and mid 1970s and still don't. They get that, and they could have both the NBA back and probably their own NHL franchise as well.

3/01/2023 - Kire Schneider: Chris Webber when he was healthy, was an excellent two-way power forward in the NBA. But Wizards (as they're called now) didn't get to see a healthy Chris Webber at the Capital Centre very often.
Lamar Matic: "C-Webb records a triple double in his third game against his former Warriors team and, moreover, does that on an injured ankle and a nagging shoulder injury (which would ultimately side-line him for the season). Golden State looks exactly like a team who is on the second night on a back-to-back and their comparatively small front-line gets over-powered and out-ran by an energetic Webber. He finishes a few dunks and when he isn't attacking the hoop himself (18/25 FG), he was quite willing to spread the ball around.
At times his unselfishness almost seemed exaggerated and he himself admitted after the game that he was aiming to reach that triple double. But, hey, guess what - unselfish bigs who pass the ball and know how to do it are fun to watch. Plus, it probably does have an overall good effect on the team. A certain play might suffer because of it, however, it's cool to have a leader who sets the tone for how much the ball should be shared. December 27, 1995."
3/02/2023 - Kire Schneider: The Seattle Sonics and Wizards, from 1995, at the Capital Centre. Interesting matchup.
Seattle Sonics: "#Gary Payton #Shawn Kemp #Detlef Schrempf #Kendall Gill #Bill Cartwright #Sam Perkins #Nate McMillan #Vincent Askew #Šarūnas Marčiulionis #Dontonio Wingfield #Ervin Johnson #Byron Houston #Seattle Supersonics #OKC #thunder

3/03/2023 - @Mary J. Ruwart: The majority rarely knows what’s best. History looks kindly on individuals who took roads less traveled.
Abolitionists ➡️ the minority.
#CivilRights activists ➡️ the minority.
Gay rights activists ➡️ the minority.
#Libertarians ➡️ the minority…
Kire Schneider: So Dr. Ruwart, are you saying that you support the civil rights laws? You wouldn't be the 1st Libertarian who supports them.
3/06/2023 - Mary J. Ruwart: Banning or regulating weapons will not prevent all situations in which we must kill or be killed. #Gun bans themselves are acts of aggression. They stop people—at gunpoint, if necessary—from having or using firearms. #GunControl is the ultimate contradiction. #libertarian
Kire Schneider: Again, anyone who thinks any of the constitutional amendments are absolute, is not a constitutionalist. We know that the 2nd Amendment is not absolute for the simple fact that we don't have a constitutional right to randomly shoot people. And it goes on.
3/07/2023 - Kire Schneider: Earnest Borgnine and Hollywood Babydoll Edie Adams in The Oscar. They have small, but important roles in the 2nd half, of this excellent and entertaining film about Hollywood.
La Cinema Dreams: Of course, this is precisely when the already dizzying lunacy of The Oscar really swings into high gear. Cue the laughably garish sets meant to signify high-style opulence, the tired visual short-cuts (EVERY scene in a studio backlot features strolling cowboys, gladiators, and showgirls in headdresses), and the standard-issue What Makes Sammy Run? rise and fall of an unscrupulous schnook scenario.
Yes, whether it be the simile-laden narration ("Man, he wanted to swallow Hollywood like a cat with a canary.”); the rote, claws-his-way-to-the-top conflicts (“The fact is my 10% before taxes is paying your office overhead. And you stop earning it when you stop giving me what I want!"); or clumsy, tin-eared metaphors (“Have you ever seen a moth smashed against a window? It leaves the dust of its wings. You’re like that Frankie, you leave a powder of dirt everywhere you touch.”), The Oscar leaves nary a cliché unturned and untouched. And for that, we should all give thanks.
3/10/2023 - Kire Schneider: Maurice Lucas and the Seattle Sonics, vs Bill Walton and the Boston Celtics, at the Boston Garden. I'm thinking from the 1987 season, since Maurice is playing for the Sonics. But I don't know for sure.

3/13/2023 - Kire Schneider: I sure as hell hope that President Biden is right here. But I'm sure President Bush was saying similar things back in 2007, when banking system started failing as well.
C-SPAN: "President Biden addressed government steps over the weekend to prevent a banking crisis following the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank. "Americans can have confidence that the banking system is safe...no losses will be borne by the taxpayers...the money will come from the fees that banks pay into the deposit insurance fund...

9/13/2023 - @Kire Schneider: The Pro Football Hall of Fame should pass a rule: no more QB's get nominated to HOF, before Ken Anderson finally gets in. He should've been in the HOF 25 years ago.

9/17/2023 - @Kire Schneider: L.C. Greenwood and the Pittsburgh Steelers, vs the Los Angeles Rams, during Super 14. L.C. should've been in the Hall of Fame a long time ago. Definitely one of the best DE's of his era.
@Getty Images: Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end L.C. Greenwood during a 31-19 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XIV on January 20, 1980 at Rose Bowl.
9/22/2023 - @Kire Schneider: Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Jethro Pugh, going after New England Patriots QB Jim Plunkett, I believe in 1971, at Texas Stadium. Plunkett got decked a lot, really the 1st 7 years or so, during his up and down career.
9/23/2023 - @Kire Schneider: The 1971 Patriots were not bad, finishing with a 6-8 record, with rookie QB Jim Plunkett. But they were no match for the eventual Super Bowl champion Cowboys, especially at Texas Stadium.
@Comrade Dobler: 1971 Patriots at Cowboys Week 6
9/24/2023 - @Kire Schneider: Marcia Clark is beautiful in black and blue. She had a great case, but not the right jury for it.

10/01/2023 - @Tom Ricks: A lot of Americans are all for law and order—until it applies to them.
@Kire Schneider: "Damn, right! We want law and order for the other people."

10/03/2023 - @Kire Schneider: I'm one of the last people to ever speak up for Kevin McCarthy on anything, but his job was borderline impossible, with just a 5 seat majority and the House MAGA Caucus that he had to deal with. But he didn't do himself any favors by going back on his word to MAGA Republicans and doing nothing to reach out to House Democrats.
@PBS NewsHour: For the first time in this nation’s history, the House of Representatives formally ousted its speaker. A handful of hard-right Republicans and every Democrat voted together to remove the gavel from Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s hand. The move came nine months to the day since McCarthy lost his first vote to become speaker. Congressional Correspondent Lisa Desjardins reports from Capitol Hill.
10/14/2023 - @Kire Schneider: Ken Anderson is the best NFL QB whose currently available for the HOF, whose still not in Canton yet. And he shouldn't been a HOF 25 years ago.
@Stadium Talk: These gridiron greats are still waiting for the call from Canton.
10/16/2023 - @C-SPAN: Former President Trump: "Today, a judge put on a gag order. I'll be the only politician in history that runs with a gag order where I'm not allowed to criticize people."
@Kire Schneider: Well, Donald Trump is actually right about something for a change. He'll be the only politician running for President, who'll have to run under a gag order. But the reason for that, is his big, fat, mouth. He's no longer on reality TV, but in the real world.
10/16/2023 - @Thomas E. Ricks: I'm willing to see him there
@Acyn: Trump: I’m willing to go to jail
@Kire Schneider: I would pay to see DJT in jail, Tom.

10/18/2023 - @Thomas E. Ricks: Have any of Putin's backers in America noticed that Russia is allied with Iran which backs Hamas.
@Kire Schneider: Of course not. But Vladimir Putin''s backers are Christian Nationalists and so are his supporters in Russia.
From Thomas E. Ricks
10/18/2023 - @Thomas E. Ricks: The Republican Party in Congress is having a meltdown. Wouldn’t the sane thing be for 10 centrist Republicans to take a stand and support a Democratic speaker? They need to repair their own party, and not wait for the Democrats to clean up their reactionary mess.
@Kire Schneider: Well, it’s really just the House Republicans who are freaking out and trying to prevent their own heart attacks. Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer actually seem to be working together in the Senate.

10/22/2023 - @Kire Schneider: The Pittsburgh Spirit and St. Louis Steamers, from 1985, at the St. Louis Arena. Looks like chaos with the refs not seeming to know what to do. Classic MISL action.
@Patrick McCarthy: This was a regular season game between the Pittsburgh Spirit and the St. Louis Steamers. The game was already decided when Dave Clements decided to let St. Louis Steamers goalie Slobo Ilijevski take a penalty shot against Pittsburgh goalie Joe Papaleo!
11/04/2023 - @C-SPAN: @Governor Chris Christie after being booed at Florida GOP summit: "Your anger against the truth is reprehensible … The problem is you fear the truth. The problem is you want to shout down any voice that says anything different than what you want to hear."

11/04/2023 - @C-SPAN: Republican presidential candidate Asa Hutchinson "There is a significant likelihood that Donald Trump will be found guilty by a jury on a felony offense next year."
