Football GamePlan: Video: Emory Hunt Jr. Previewing the 2014 Baltimore Ravens

Look for the Ravens to get back to where they were pre-2013 when they were a very good football team on both sides of the ball. They are better now on offense than they were even when they won the Super Bowl in 2012, because they have more weapons. Two pass catching tight ends in Daniel Pitta and Owen Daniels. A healthy Brandon Pierce and Ray Rice at running back. Steve Smith, Torrey Smith, Marlon Brown who was a solid rookie at wide receiver.

Defensively the Ravens couldn't run the ball against anyone and yet they were still a top ten defense. And with Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervile rushing the QB and Darryl Smith inside to go along with a very solid secondary led by Ladarious Webb and Jimmy Smith at corner and go along with the Ravens pass rush up front, I expect them to play very well. A little concern about the safety position, but their pass rush could negate that.

My only question about the 2014 Ravens, is can they run the ball against anyone. No Ray Rice until October, so Brandon Pierce needs to be healthy and stay healthy and take advantage of the opportunity to be the number one running back for the first four games. Because the offensive line will be good enough, not great, but good enough for the Ravens to have a solid running game. Which means all they'll need is for a running back to consistently hit the holes. If that happens Joe Flacco again because of his new weapons should play like Joe Flacco of 2012 making the Ravens a Super Bowl contender once again.
