"See the rise and fall of the Kingfish Governor of Louisiana. He's more than a Kaiserreich meme, and has left quite a lasting legacy."<br />
<br />
From <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMUx4AQl5tI">Emperor Tigerstar</a><br />
<br />
I mentioned in my Huey Long piece last week that Huey Long had a lot in common with Senator Bernie Sanders today as it created to wealth redistribution and a socialist populism that was about high taxation on the wealthy to be used to help everyone else. And all of that is true, but as I also mentioned last week Huey and Bernie aren't ideological twins.<br />
<br />
Senator Sanders at least as far as how he speaks, what he proposes, and his political positions all suggest that he's a Democratic Socialist. Governor Long, you could call him a Democratic Socialist on economic policy, but even as the guy in this video admits to Governor Long was essentially the dictator of Louisiana as far as how he was able to centralize a lot of state power for himself, but then the guy in this video says that Governor Long used all of this state power to benefit the people of Louisiana, not himself necessarily.<br />
<br />
I'm going to argue that Huey Long wasn't a Communist even though he did have dictatorial socialist leanings as Governor. But only because he didn't close down private media organizations and churches, banks, that sort of thing where people can get to together and create their own private power. But he did centralize a lot of power within his own state to the point that if you tried to cross him, he could hurt your badly politically and professionally. And to work for his Administration in Louisiana, you have to donate part of your state salary to his political machine in Louisiana. At one point Huey, was both Governor of Louisiana and then U.S. Senator from Louisiana. Even when he was in Congress, he still had a lot of power in Louisiana.<br />
<br />
A better way to describe Huey Long is say that he was a crook, but with good intentions and as long as you didn't try to cross him, life could be very good for you in Louisiana. And again Huey wasn't a Communist, but he did have things in common with Communists and Socialist dictators around the world. People who come into power promising the populist that he alone can make their lives better if they just give him all of this power. ( Remind you of any current President today? )<br />
<br />
We saw this with Fidel Castro in Cuba, Hugo Chavez and now Nicholas Maduro in Venezuela. Men who have way too much self-confidence and probably couldn't look up or define words like modesty and humility even if they saw them in a dictionary. Which is dangerous for any society to have which are leaders who have so much faith in themselves, because they see themselves as invincible and that it's somehow treason for anyone to even try to question them. And when someone does that, they face cruel repercussions. That's the type of leader or Socialist that I see Huey Long as.</div>

<br />
From <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lon6Ay3jzkE">Senator Huey Long</a><br />
<br />
Governor Huey Long's Share The Wealth Proposal<br />
<br />
Source:<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Share_Our_Wealth">Wikipedia</a><br />
<br />
1. "No person would be allowed to accumulate a personal net worth of more than 300 times the average family fortune, which would limit personal assets to between $5 million and $8 million. A graduated capital levy tax would be assessed on all persons with a net worth exceeding $1 million.[citation needed]<br />
<br />
2. Annual incomes would be limited to $1 million and inheritances would be capped at $5.1 million.[citation needed]<br />
<br />
3. Every family was to be furnished with a homestead allowance of not less than one-third the average family wealth of the country. Every family was to be guaranteed an annual family income of at least $2,000 to $2,500, or not less than one-third of the average annual family income in the United States. Yearly income, however, cannot exceed more than 300 times the size of the average family income.[citation needed]<br />
<br />
4. An old-age pension would be made available for all persons over 60.[citation needed]<br />
<br />
To balance agricultural production, the government would preserve/store surplus goods, abolishing the practice of destroying surplus food and other necessities due to lack of purchasing power.[citation needed]<br />
<br />
5. Veterans would be paid what they were owed (a pension and healthcare benefits).[citation needed]<br />
<br />
Free education and training for all students to have equal opportunities in all schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions for training in the professions and vocations of life.[citation needed]<br />
<br />
6. The raising of revenue and taxes for the support of this program was to come from the reduction of swollen fortunes from the top, as well as for the support of public works to give employment whenever there may be any slackening necessary in private enterprise."<br />
<br />
I'm not saying that Huey Long both as Governor Long and then later Senator Long was the George McGovern, or take it up today and call him the Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren of his era, but only because Huey Long wasn't so much a Democratic Socialist as he was just just purely a Socialist: someone who mixed both democratic and authoritarian views into his own politics. He was more like a Nicholas Maduro ( the President of Venezuela ) than Neville Chamberlain ( Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in the 1930s ) as someone who believed in democratic socialism economically, but had authoritarian views when it came to how he governed.<br />
<br />
Governor Huey Long, was as close to a dictator that we've ever had in this country when he was Governor of Louisiana and had so much power over the government there and didn't believe in checks and balances and separation of powers. But on economic policy he was someone who had strong populist tendencies and someone who wasn't a big city leftist or populist, but someone who could appeal to rural voters in the deep South, because of how poor they were and that he spoke about their poverty and promised to get them out of it with his economic populism that we would call democratic socialism today. Which is what he has in common with Senator Bernie Sanders today.<br />
<br />
What Governor Long has in common with Senator Sanders is what again what was called economic populism in the 1930s that we call democratic socialism today: Bernie, doesn't call his economic agenda Share The Wealth, but that's probably more for political reasons than ideological. He's already a self-described Democratic Socialist and one of just a few in Congress today and doesn't want to be confused with Socialists who are even to the Left of him. But ideologically Bernie's vision of democratic socialism is very similar to Huey's when it comes to money and wealth. They would both essentially outlaw wealth in this country and use that money for their social welfare agenda.<br />
<br />
Huey Long in the 1930s, was talking about old age pensions and what we call today a national basic income where every American would be given a financial allowance in this country to make sure that they don't have to live in poverty. Bernie Sanders, believes that every single American has a right to go to college and get health insurance and health care provide to them from the government. And that the wealthy should be forced to pay for all of these services for everyone else. What Huey and Bernie have in common politically, is that they're both anti-wealth and economic independence. And see it as the role of the U.S. Government to guarantee every single America and basically national income and quality living in this country.</div>

"Director Alison Klayman spent 13 months documenting former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon for her documentary The Brink. Alison explains the ways he manipulates his followers by spreading conspiracies and sowing doubt in the media. Watch The Brink, out in theaters March 29th."<br />
<br />
From <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq_2-RMm8HY&t=2s">Vanity Fair</a><br />
<br />
I think Steve Bannon might say himself that he's not a Conservative, but a Nationalist. It's not conservative values that Bannon represents at least in the sense that he believes in the U.S. Constitution and everything that it represents and even conservative values in a cultural sense, but it's his nationalist, tribalist, and cultural values that he represents which trump's everything ( no pun intended ) including character, morality and his personal values. Steve Bannon is about himself and his tribe versus everyone and everything else and as long as you're on his team and part of his political and cultural tribe, everything else be dammed just as long as you play ball with him and his allies.<br />
<br />
Alison Klayman, in her piece mentioned Judge Roy Moore who was an Alabama judge who ran for U.S. Senate from Alabama in 2017 in that special election and lost essentially because of his lack of character and his immorality and the credible sexual harassment allegations that were made against him. And said that Steve Bannon is not a stupid man ( as if anyone thinks that he is ) and she suggested that he probably believed the allegations that were made against Judge Moore, but stuck with Moore because Moore was part of his team and the broader Trump movement in America. Donald Trump's presidential campaign from 2015-16 is another great example of that. President Trump's base has stuck with the President even with everything that he's done and said that no other Republican President and mainstream Republican in Congress would every consider doing and saying, because Donald Trump is part of their team.<br />
<br />
When you become so partisan and even so hyper-partisan and angry in politics where the other party is not longer your opponents, but your enemies to the point that you don't even see them as Americans, but traitors and invaders, everything is about winning and protecting your side. And you put no limits onto what you'll do to win and protect your team, because you're so fearful of the other team winning, coming in, and taking your power away from you. Which is what Steve Bannon and these other hyper-partisan hard-core Nationalists on the Far-Right in America represent. The great Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi had the great quote: "winning isn't everything, but it's the only thing" the New-Right have taken that line way out of context and put it over everything else in society like morality, character, and honesty.</div>

<br />
The video makes it clear why the words socialist and socialism are unpopular. Everything from the end of World War I and the start of the Soviet Union with their communist revolution in Russia, to Senator Bernie Sanders and his presidential campaigns today. With the start of the Cold War with Russia after World War II and the so-called red scare, with Congress first with the House of Representatives in the late 1940s and the later with the Senate in the 1950s investigating Socialists and Communists in the U.S. Government and the rest of the country.<br />
<br />
Before the rise of the Millennial Generation in America, when Americans thought of socialist or socialism they automatically assumed people were talking about Communists and other leftist authoritarians, wether they be in Russia or anywhere else in the world. And Americans regardless if they're on the Right or Left in America and somewhere in between tend to hate authoritarianism. Even self-described Socialists in America whether they're Bernie Sanders or others don't view themselves as Communists or other leftist authoritarians. They might have a hard time speaking ill of Communists and communism and leftist authoritarianism whether it's in Cuba or Venezuela, but they themselves are not Communists.<br />
<br />
But when Millennials think of Socialists, they think of politicians that are going to give them a lot of free stuff ( another way of saying welfare programs ) like health care, health insurance, college, day care, etc. And take on greed in corporate America, as well as tax the rich, but not take heir property away and force them to work in work camps and other horrible places that we saw in Soviet Russia and in North Korea today. Whether you view socialist and socialism as either positive or negative, a lot of that is generational. If you grew up during the Cold War and in my case at the end of the Cold War just starting high school when the Cold War came to an end in the early 1990s, you're probably not a fan of Socialists and socialism, because you tend to think of Communists and communism. But if you weren't even born until the 1990s, when you think of Socialists and socialism, you tend to think of Europe and the social democracies there. Which is a helluva lot different from the communist states.<br />
<br />
Communism, really was the biggest threat to America, American freedom, our individualism and individual rights in the 20th Century. And of course a lot of Americans in and out of government went too far with their anti-communism and outing people simply for having Far-Left beliefs whether they were Democratic Socialists or Communists. But the Cold War really was about liberal democracy versus communism and was a war that America, Britain, and Europe really had to win.<br />
<br />
And because of this good people were put down and denied access in society simply because of their Far-Left beliefs to the point that American Leftists were scared as hell to ever be tabled as a Socialist ( even if they were ) for fear that being known as a Socialist could ruin their careers and lives. And preferred other political labels like liberal or progressive even though their own politics was much further left than both liberal and progressive. Which is how socialist and socialism became dirty words in America, because Americans didn't want their lives ruined simply because of their socialist politics.The Daily Reviewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01266174709409124218noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099120981398678466.post-2643491972488723302019-03-22T13:52:00.002-07:002021-06-25T15:36:45.014-07:00The WAWG Blog: Andy Hailey- American Socialism: ‘Equally Empowers & Protecting All US Citizens’<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

I’ve blogged about this many times before, but progressivism is not the same as socialism however you define socialism. A lot of aspects of socialism are actually very regressive when you’re talking about communism or Neo-Communism that you see in Venezuela, where the national state isn’t in complete control of the country unlike in Cuba.<br />
<br />
Progressives, believe in the private market and private enterprise, free trade, the rule of law, progressive taxation, but not universal high taxation, fiscal responsibility even, ( President Lyndon Johnson had a balanced budget in 1968 ) but they also believe in a social insurance net for people who fall on hard times. The safety net from the Progressive, is different from the welfare state of the Socialist who says that all employee benefits should be provided for by the government, instead of employers. The Progressive, just wants public assistance programs like Unemployment for people who truly need it. Unlike the Socialist who wants welfare programs to be universal regardless of income.<br />
<br />
Regardless of what you hear from the so-called mainstream media today when they’re talking about Congressional Democrats and other leftist Democrats that they call Progressives, whether it’s Bernie Sanders or Alexandria O. Cortez, or any other members of the so-called Congressional Progressive Caucus, these people are Socialists, not Progressives. They believe that American progressivism hasn’t gone far enough and we now need a welfare state and government big enough to take care of the people. Which is different from progressivism which advocates for a social insurance system for the people who truly need it. While at the same time we encourage Americans to be as economically independent as possible so the resources are always there for the people who truly need it.<br />

<br />
Replace Donald Trump with Barack Obama as President with 22 trillion national debt and a big tax cut from last year and have with this same panel on this show and let's hear them talk about how the national debt is not that big of a deal or a real concern. You might think that you're death trying to hear that conversation, simply because you would never hear them talking that way. Other than maybe Steve Forbes who never believed that the national debt and deficits are that big of a deal regardless of who the President is and the size of the deficit and debt, you wouldn't hear that conversation at all.<br />
<br />
You would instead hear things like: "those tax and spend Democrats are sending America into bankruptcy and borrowing and spending America's future." The old Tea Party arguments ( and they are old ) from 2011, 12, and 13 would come back again. My whole point here is when you have a national debt that's 80-90% of your economy and it's a big deal, then the national debt is even larger than that now especially when your economy is growing at 2-3% a year and you have unemployment at less than 4%, then it's a big deal when the national debt is even bigger as it's now. The national debt and deficits knows no political parties and isn't interested in politics at all. If the national debt is a big deal, then it's a big deal regardless of which party is in power at The White House.<br />
<br />
The only difference here is that we have a Republican President instead of a Democratic President, with Republicans feeling no political advantage whatsoever in talking about the dangers of the national debt when their party is in The White House. Which is a bad thing because the national debt was a problem during the Obama Administration and probably had some affect on the lack of economic growth in the economy, even though job growth was very solid for most of the Obama Presidency, but economic growth tended to lag behind that job growth.<br />
<br />
But it's a bigger problem now especially with the economy growing now and with the Republican Congress and President Trump the last two years voluntarily raising the debt and deficit with new spending and tax cuts when they didn't have to, when instead they could've started paying down the deficit and moving the country towards a balanced budget. Again, the national debt doesn't know politics and political parties and is there regardless of who is in The White House and running Congress. So when politicians try to take advantage of it when they're out-of-power, it can come back to bite them once they're back in power and the national debt grows ever larger on their watch.</div>

"The 49th episode in a very long series about the American presidential elections from 1788 to the present. I hope to have them done by Election Day 2016. In 1980, Ronald Reagan seems unstoppable as he tries to "make America great again."<br />
<br />
The 49th Presidential election in American history took place on November 4, 1980. As President, Jimmy Carter faced quite a few obstacles, and things just weren’t all peachy. The country faced low economic growth, high inflation and interest rates, and an energy crisis, in which the prices of oil went way up since supply went down in certain areas. This shortage was partially caused by the Iranian Revolution of 1979, in which a new Islamic government hostile to the United States overthrew the old one. "<br />

There are political Independents and then there are political Independents. Independents tend to get stereotyped as liberal or moderate on social issues and fiscally conservative. Which just isn't the case in a lot of if not most cases. There are Socialists who are Independents. There are Conservatives who are Independent. There are Libertarians who are Independent and I could go on. A political Independent is just someone who who is not associated with the two major political parties and in some cases not associated with any political party.<br />

</tbody></table>
When Representative John Anderson from Illinois, ran for President in the general election in 1980, he ran as a political Independent, but he was a progressive-conservative Republican ideologically. And I know that sounds like jumbo shrimp, or fuel efficient SUV, a Libertarian-Socialist and I could name a tone of other terms that sound like Oxymorons and sound like they were invented by morons who don't realize that these terms don't go together.<br />
<br />
But back in the 1970s and well before as far back as perhaps the 1940s, there was a Progressive Republican wing of the Republican Party. People who would be called progressive on social issues and believed in civil rights and commonsense regulations when it came to business, civil liberties, but who also believed in fiscal responsibility. Believed in balanced budgets and lower taxes, a strong national defense, who are anti-Communists and didn't like authoritarianism at all whether it was communist or some right-wing authoritarian ideology. Believed in the rule of law and being tough on crime.<br />
<br />
Representative John Anderson, ran for President in 1980 as an Independent, ( meaning not as a Republican or Democrat ) but ideologically he was a progressive-conservative Republican. He was part of the Nelson Rockefeller or Dwight Eisenhower wing of the Republican. George H.W. Bush at least before he ran as Ronald Reagan's Vice President in 1980 was from this wing of the party as well. And governed this was as President himself. Ideologically he was very different from President Ronald Reagan while at the same time sharing values with President Reagan as it related to national defense, anti-communism, lower taxation, and other issues. So if you want to know where someone stands politically, don't look at their party registration, but look at their politics and what they actually believe.</div>

</tbody></table>
President Dwight D. Eisenhower: "if you want total security go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking is freedom." President Eisenhower, talking about the value of freedom, freedom of choice, personal autonomy, etc, the tools that every person every free society uses to manage their own affairs.<br />
<br />
The only thing that is free about a free society is the freedom for individuals to make their own decisions. Everything else about a free society comes with choices, investments, even costs. To be able to do things and make your own decisions, you have to earn that buy doing other things. Like getting and education, and good job that allows you to able to take care of yourself. And those really aren't costs either, but more like investments because you get a lot of education and a good job that you're good at other than money and a good job which is knowledge that you can use in your future which either helps you at work or in other places, but with everything that you do in life.<br />
<br />
And in any society wether it's a free society or an authoritarian society or even let's say a social democratic society where the national government attempts to eliminate as much economic risk as possible, but falls short of nationalizing the economy there's going to be some risk there. Which is why a good education is so important so the people have as much knowledge and quality information as possible to be able to make their own good decisions and investments. But even life in prison ( not that I know from personal experience ) comes with real risks and those risks generally having to do with one's physical security. Even non-violent offenders have to deal with the risk that one of their fellow inmates might actually hurt them or worst at some point.<br />
<br />
And in any authoritarian society where both economic and personal risk is eliminated or that's what the government tries to create, there is a risk that the state might pick you up, because they see you as some threat to the regime. Cuba, Russia, North Korea, Saudi Arabia are great examples of that. So in no society and no form of life comes without personal risk. The question is how do you manage it and what decisions you make with your own life.<br />
<br />
For me is the best form of life is a free life where people are able to make their own personal and economic decisions themselves, but are then held accountable for their own decision making for good and bad. And allow for everyone to get themselves the best education that they can so they can make the best lives for themselves as possible. As well as encourage people to get a good education, good job, earn a good living. So you have as many free people as possible in society.</div>

"At $22 trillion and rising, the national debt threatens America’s economic future. Here are some of the reasons why the national debt matters."<br />
<br />
From the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS0nK7BI0o0">Peter G. Peterson Foundation</a><br />
<br />
For anyone who tries to tell you that deficits and the national debt don't matter, whether they're Socialists on the Left or supply Neoconservatives on the Right, ask them one question: "then why do we need taxes if we we have unlimited borrowing power?" If deficits and debt doesn't matter and you have unlimited borrowing power, you wouldn't need taxes. If you want government to do something or increase spending, since you have unlimited borrowing power like someone who has their own printing machine and just print money every time they want to spend money, you can just print the money you need and want to spend.<br />
<br />

</tbody></table>
This is a ridiculous question, because of course deficits and debt matter. So don't let the Dick Cheney's of the world or these leftist Democrats ( whether they call themselves Socialists or not ) running for President who will promise any single new government program that they can think of in order to win the Democratic nomination and who'll call their programs and services free, even though they're at least smart enough to know that their services won't be free and perhaps are just plain dishonest about it. Because they'll either be paid for in new taxes on the middle class by the way and not people who live in Manhattan, or the Hamptons, or in Georgetown, or in Beverly Hills, but by people who work hard everyday and live in middle class communities in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago, and other places. Because the wealthy are smart enough to move their money oversees anytime they get wind of a new tax coming down the pike for them.<br />

As it says in the video American taxpayers of all incomes every year pay about 390 billion dollars in interest payments on the debt. Which is just one example of what can happen when you have a national debt that's the size of your entire gross national product. Just think of what Uncle Sam could do with 390 billion dollars a year that he doesn't have to tax his nephews and nieces every year to raise that revenue. 390 billion would repair, replace, and create a helluva lot of public infrastructure in America. Lots of roads and new schools in middle class and low-income communities. Money that could also be used to for adult education so people who are struggling to pay their bills and don't have enough education. We could be investing new funds for people who are uneducated and currently not working so they can finish and further their education, enter the workforce and join the middle class in America.<br />
<br />
If you call yourself a Progressive, these are just some of the investments that America could be making for their people to improve their lives. But we can't do these things and a country and do other public investments when we're giving out 390 billion dollars a year ( and growing ) simply because we're not adult and responsible enough as citizens and public officials to pay for the things that we want our government to do for us every year. Of course deficits and debt matters and they don't go way simply by saying, "we'll just tax the rich" especially when even if your IRS actually gets that money would just be spent on new programs or put into additional government programs.<br /></div>

To be completely honest with you for a minute, ( and after that anything can happen ) I only watch American Pickers because of Danielle Colby Cushman. I'm a big fan of history and I'm very interested in it and read a lot about it and watch a lot of docs about it, I'm just not a collector when it comes to history other than DVD's and books.<br />

The show is fairly entertaining and to see how hard these people in Iowa work and how far they travel to keep their business going. Both Mike and Frank bring a lot of knowledge, hard work, and humor to their jobs. And I kind of like Frank Fritz reminds me a lot of the TV PI Frank Cannon from back in the 70s both in personality and appearance. And Mike Wolfe, reminds me a lot of the former NFL head coach Mike Shananhan physically. But Danielle, is the main event and main reason for me to watch this show, I just wish she had a bigger role and more airtime.<br />
<br />
Danielle C. Cushman, ( or perhaps Danielle Colby at this point ) is so cute, so sexy, pretty funny, and just a pleasure to check out on the show. Every time Mike or Frank bring her on one of their trips to actually work with them, the guys they visit in order to buy historical items the men they encounter and are doing business with automatically like her and want to be around her. I believe just her presence alone brings in action and money for their business. And it's just not just her physical appearance and personality that people like about her on the show, she also knows what she's talking about and isn't some bimbo along for the ride like you might see on a game show or talk show. She's a professional collector as well which is why Mike and Frank hired her.<br />
<br />
Not that History Channel and American Pickers listens to me anyway, but if they want me to watch this show more and perhaps guys who aren't let's say junkies ( pun intended ) when it comes to historical collections to watch their show more, give Danielle Colby a bigger role on the show. Instead of just getting a few minutes each week or however often the show is seeing her at the office answering the phone and then calling Mike and Frank in their truck on the road to tell them about a new potential customer for them. <br /><div>"Elaine Pagels discusses her book, "Why Religion?", at Politics and Prose on 11/30/18.</div><div><br /></div><div>When Pagels, author of groundbreaking studies of the Gnostic Gospels, was asked, “Why religion?" she found that her own life illuminates both why she’s made a career of studying religious texts as well as why religion itself still exists in the supposedly secular 21st-century. The daughter and wife of scientists, Pagels was taught to trust the rational, but she found herself attracted to religious music and rituals for how they engaged the imagination. After the loss of her five-year-old son in 1987, followed by her husband’s death in an accident in 1988, Pagels turned to religion for help in facing her grief and anger. Interweaving the fascinating scholarship behind books such The Origin of Satan and Revelations with her own experiences, Pagels’s memoir is as emotionally affecting as it is thought-provoking.</div><div><br /></div><div>Pagels is in conversation with Dr. Eric Motley, executive vice president at the Aspen Institute and author of the memoir Madison Park."</div><div><br /></div><div>From <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJheSPkNJhA">Politics & Prose</a></div>
<br />As someone who is Agnostic and proud of it who believes in reason, science, facts, and only has faith in people, things, institutions that I trust based on the evidence that I've seen from being around them and talking to them, I can actually see why people would be attracted in religion. <div><br /></div><div>As someone who believes in the First Amendment which includes the Freedom of Religion in America, ( sorry Hippies, I'm not spiritualist and I'm not a Communist either ) I can see why people would want religion, be involved in America, and even need it. I guess this is difference between an Agnostic and an Atheist, especially a fundamentalist Atheist. (And yes, there is such a thing) </div><div><div><br /></div><div><div>This is not an official definition, but that might only be because there isn't any official definition of religion, but my personal definition of religion is basically basic set of moral values that people believe and follow, as well as the belief in God. Now, depending on what religion you are a member of determines what moral values that you believe in and follow that helps you in your life. </div><div><br /></div><div>I can easily see how people can get positive benefits from being a part of a religion and get positive benefits from attending church and listening to their religious leader every week give a sermon, especially when they're going through rough times and need help getting through those tough times. Even though religion is not for me and I prefer to use evidence and reason to get through those tough times in our lives. </div></div><div><br /></div><div><div>Elaine Pagels, lost both her son and husband in the span of a year back in 1987-88, apparently wasn't very religious before those tragedies in her life, but found religion after that and I can understand someone who goes through those tragedies especially in such a short period of time would feel the need to get help from religion and learn about that and try to figure out for themselves why they're being put through those tragedies one following by another.</div><div><br /></div><div>Religion, has been used by alcoholics to get over their alcoholism. It's been used to help career criminals who are doing long-term prison sentences get their life going on a positive track so once they're finally out of prison they can become positive members of their community once they're free. As much as I might hate religious fundamentalism in all forms, ( and trust me, I do ) people should also understand and beware of the positive aspects of religious life as well.</div></div></div>The Daily Reviewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01266174709409124218noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099120981398678466.post-80408184220008913932018-12-21T12:15:00.006-08:002022-07-01T15:56:56.593-07:00Iconic: Governor George C. Maybe I should say reality show in quotes since what's called reality TV is not very real at all. We all know now that the cast members are encouraged to act a certain and act out. Instead of a film crew following people around to see what they're really like in real-life. But for what's called reality TV in Hollywood and New York, Rodeo Girls would qualify as reality TV that's about cowgirl and professional female rodeo cowgirls and watching them compete around the country and what life is like for them and they're not competing.<br />
<br />

Rodeo Girls for me, is like a soap opera but perhaps without a script. I'm sure the cast members are encouraged to act a certain and to even act out, but they're not told what to say. In a TV soap opera that has writers and actors, etc each cast members are given a script and told what to say. Rodeo Girls, is like a soap opera, but without a script. It has all the tension and competitiveness, backstabbing that would see on General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, The Young and The Restless, whatever soap you want to use as an example, but the show is unscripted. But the cast is strategically picked out to create tension and entertainment on the show. To put people in place who perhaps don't even respect each other, let alone like each other and they're not only competing with each other, but have to interact with each other on the show.<br />
<br />
The real drama on this show is between Darcy Lapier ( perhaps the best looking cowgirl in the world, fake or otherwise ) and the rest of the cowgirls the show. Darcy Lapier, is essentially know for being a one-time actress who I guess never got her acting career going in the 1980s, but was able to get involved with some high profiled men in Hollywood and in business. She was married briefly to Jean Van-Damme, businessmen Ron Rice and Mark Hughes, She's essentially made her career and living by marrying up and being married to successful men and then being able to live off of them while married and then divorced. Gold digger, would probably be an accurate way to describe Darcy Lapier. A very beautiful, hot even, very sexy, very adorable woman, but who has never had much of a career of her own.<br />
<br />
And that is where the tension is between Darcy and the other rodeo girls on the show like Barb West who are real rodeo and cowgirls in real-life, who are professionals, who don't have their ex-husbands alimony or some trust fund to live off of and have to do well in this business in order to support themselves. They don't see Darcy as one of them or even as a real cowgirl and Darcy is a bit of a verbal punching bag for them and she sees herself as better than them, because she's not a working stiff and lives the life of a reality TV, Hollywood celebrity traveling around in limos and and her own jet. Who has now decided that she wants a career for herself and is struggling to make it as a professional cowgirl.<br /></div></div>The Daily Reviewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01266174709409124218noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099120981398678466.post-2672772110323280762018-12-07T12:50:00.006-08:002021-08-21T13:57:26.820-07:00Claudia Christian: On Making It In Hollywood<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

From <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9Zc9bWMpng">Quote Tank</a><br />
<br />
Not all actors and actresses, but a lot of them and apparently Claudia Christian is a perfect example of this, but before they become stars they have bills to pay and have to support themselves. Especially if they already have kids and their spouse isn't rich yet either. Just because you haven't heard of a certain actor because become stars later in their careers, doesn't mean they just suddenly appear out of nowhere or were sent down form Planet Venus or some other planet to become a star in Hollywood.<br />
<br />
A lot of actors before they became stars were already veteran actors and actresses. Dennis Haysbert, who played the President on 24, is a perfect example of that. He was already in his mid 40s when he got that role, but had already had big acting credits like appearing in Heat in 1995. George Clooney, was 33 when he became a star on ER, but had already been acting and supporting himself for 10 years before that.<br />
<br />
And because all actors and actresses have to work to support themselves even if they're not stars yet, they have to go where the money is and where they can get roles. Even if that means doing movies that a few years down the line after they've already made it look ridiculous to them. Thomas Howell, who became a star in the movie The Outsiders, has a laundry list of b-movies on his resume, because those were the only parts he could get. Acting on Impulse, from 1993 which is actually a pretty good movie, but almost no one has ever heard of it.<br />
<br />
So actors and actresses have to keep working at least until they become stars and have some financial security. 30 years ago or so almost ten years before he got the part on ER and was still on The Facts of Life, George Clooney was in a movie called something like The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes or Flies. If you haven't heard of that movie, you're on a long waisting list of people who want to get into an overcrowded club of people who've also have never heard of that movie. But these are the roles that let's say developing actors and actresses and prices that these people will pay to become a star in Hollywood and never have to worry about getting work again and be able to get quality roles in movies and on TV.<br />
<br />
As far as Claudia Christian's career, she's been acting since 1984, but didn't didn't get the Babylon Five role until 1996 which made her a star in Hollywood. She made guest appearances on A-Team back in the mid 80s, appeared on the soap opera Dallas during that period, The Hidden in 1987, The Chase in 1994, which were al great roles for her, but also on that same resume before Babylon, Maniac Cop 2, Hexed, and a lot of other b if not c-movies that almost no one has even heard of, but kept her busy and working in Hollywood and gave major directors and producers a chance to see her so when a great part came around for her they would know about her and she would be ready for it. B-movies and b-roles are the prices that people pay to make it in Hollywood and Claudia Christian is just one example of that.</div>

As a political movement, progressivism purports to advance the human condition through social reform based on advancements in science, technology, economic development and social organization.[1] Adherents to this way of thinking hold that progressivism has universal application and endeavor to spread this idea to human societies everywhere. Progressivism arose during the Age of Enlightenment out of the belief that civility in Europe was improving due to application of new empirical knowledge to the governance of society.[2]<div><br /></div><div>Early-20th century progressivism included support for compulsory sterilization, the temperance movement, American engagement in World War I, and the creation of and participation in the League of Nations.[3][4][5][6][7][8] Progressives took the view that progress was being stifled by economic inequality; inadequately regulated monopolistic corporations; and conflict between workers and elites, arguing that corrective measures were needed.[9]</div><div><br /></div><div>In modern political discourse, progressivism gets often associated with social liberalism.[10][11][12][13][14]. <br />
This Andy Hailey piece, could’ve been written by Bernie Sanders today, George McGovern 30-50 years ago, Henry Wallace 70 years ago, David McReynolds or Eugene Debs ( multiple time Socialist Party nominees for president ) in McReynolds case 10, 20, 30 years ago. In Debs case 100 years ago. Socialists and socialism aren’t new to America. </div><div><br /></div><div>Socialism didn’t arrive in America when Bernie Sanders was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006 after serving in the House for 16 years before the Senate. He’s not the only Socialist in Congress and never has been. He’s just the only self-described Socialist in Congress, ( but not the only current Socialist in Congress ) and he’ll only have that title until the end of this Congress. In the next Congress, starting in January, we could see 10-20 new self-described Socialists in the House alone.<br />
<br />
What’s new is that we’re now seeing Socialists coming out of the political closet and making public that they’re Socialists. Democratic Socialists in most cases, but if you look at Far-Left like ANTIFA, they’re proud self-described Communists. </div><div><br /></div><div>It’s not extreme to want a country or world where there’s no racism, poverty, selfishness, crime, violence, war, anything else that’s bad about the world. Overly romantic, overly idealistic you wouldn’t have much trouble making the case for that. </div><div><br /></div><div>But, anyone who lives in the real world (and just doesn't come down for a visit) has to deal with both good and bad. Things that are good about people and society and things that are bad. That’s called life and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to improve not only your own life, but the society around you. Overly romantic and idealistic sure, but there’s really nothing wrong with that so long as you keep at least one foot on Planet Earth and stay in touch with reality. As least in writing or texting, or email distance.<br />
<br />
But, if you’re someone who believes in making the world better, the question is how you go about doing that. Now, if you’re an actual Progressive ( and not a closeted Socialist instead ) it’s not a question if you want to make the world better or not, but how to go about doing that. </div><div><br /></div><div>When I think of Progressives, I think of people who want to make the country or world better through government action. Not people who are looking to create a Planet Utopia where there’s no such thing as poverty, racism, or violence, but people who want to use public policy to improve the lives of their fellow citizens and create genuine, noticeable progress with public policy. Not people who are looking to outlaw everything they don’t personally like including personal wealth. Or create a central government so big that personal decision-making and individualism become extinct. But people who want to improve the lives of their fellow people through public policy.<br />
<br />Liberals, Progressives, Socialists including Democratic Socialists or Social Democrats, and even Communists tend to all get linked into the same political faction as if they’re all the same people with 6 different labels. When the fact is Liberals just by themselves are different from the other factions: </div><div><br /></div><div>For example an actual Liberal such as myself believes in liberal democracy. Communists, don’t believe in democracy at all especially liberal democracy. </div><div><br /></div><div>Democratic Socialists or Social Democrats believe in democratic socialism and social democracy. </div><div><br /></div><div>Progressives in the actual sense, are the most interesting in all of these political factions, because they’re the least ideological and most pragmatic of all these groups. They believe in liberal democracy, but they also believe in conservative values like property rights, the rule of law, and other values like that.<br />
<br />
Progressives, are people who believe in progress through government action, but limited government action. They’re not looking to create a government that is so big that it essentially takes over the society and is able to manage people’s personal as well as economic affairs for them. </div><div><br /></div><div>Progressives, are people who believe in freedom, but that it should be for everyone and not just for people who are born to wealth or have a certain ethnic or racial background. And want to use government to improve the lives of people who are struggling so they can have the same freedom as people who are already doing well in society. These are the main differences between a Progressive and a Socialist of any background. Which is Progressives, believe in progress through limited government,. Socialists, don’t believe in limited government and base their ideology around a big central government and what it can do for the people.<br /></div>The Daily Reviewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01266174709409124218noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099120981398678466.post-18479640146806828892018-11-21T12:28:00.002-08:002021-07-12T16:17:39.197-07:00A&E: American Hoggers- Krystal Campbell & Lea Penick: 'Are Angry About Tom Using a Gun'<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<br /><div>I got into American Hoggers myself accidentally I guess in the spring of 2013 when I was home on a Sunday and flipping around on the tube. And I saw these two very young, beautiful, and very cute women ( Krystal Campbell and Lea Penick ) doing what I guess would be traditionally male oriented work ( at least straight male ) not just working on a ranch, but doing the actual hunting themselves. Which is what they do for a living hunting feral hogs that represent a real threat to the farm and ranch land in Central Texas and got into this show very quickly because of these two women and what they do on this show and then Katie Ball comes on who is hired by Krystal's father ( Jerry Campbell ) to be another hunter for him and his ranch. Who is even cuter than Krystal and Lea.</div><div><br /></div><div>As far as this particular show: I'm not a hunter at all not even an amateur hunter and certainly can't speak as an expert to what they were doing here, but I think the ladies have a point here. Shooting hogs with no warning while they're people around and not knowing exactly who you're shooting at, looks to me at least like trying to land a 747 blindfolded with your eyes close during a Chicago blizzard.</div><div><br /></div><div>I understand all about self-survival and it's either the hog or me, the hog is going down, but firing into bushes like that and not knowing if they're actual humans there, is literally shooting in the dark and hoping for the best. I could just imagine Tom's excuse here if he had shot Krystal or Lea by accident and it might sound something like this: "Hey, I was shooting at the hog, not you. At least I didn't get hurt." You can easily see why the ladies would be angry here. </div></div>The Daily Reviewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01266174709409124218noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099120981398678466.post-53332510554281875962018-11-16T13:10:00.002-08:002022-10-05T16:14:17.619-07:00Susan Hayward: The Working Girl<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table>From <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfjLW_7akjI&t=3s">Quote Tank</a></div><div><br /><div>There are a lot of rags to riches success stories in America which is one thing that makes America great as well as exceptional. America tends to get stereotyped as a rich country that's dominated by rich people who control so much of the country's wealth and that all Americans are rich. And if you're from a third world country and grew up poor before you came to America, you might believe that as well at least before you get to America.</div><div><br /></div><div>But the fact is most Americans aren't wealthy. Most of us aren't poor either, but a lot of come from either middle class or working class families which is the overwhelming majority of Americans. Americans who aren't poor or who are hungry, but struggle to survive, work hard, to pay their bills. Can't afford to send their kids to college which means their kids have to work through college or get student loans, or both especially if they're not on scholarship.</div><div><br /></div><div>Susan Hayward growing up in New York City in the 1920s and 30s didn't even have it that great. She came literally from nothing where her parents couldn't afford to feed all of their kids at the same time. Sometimes couldn't afford to even do laundry, couldn't replace shoes and other clothing that were falling apart. What Susan Hayward did have going for her growing up and as a very young woman was that she hated poverty and wanted to escape it. As well as a talent and desire to succeed that would allow to her live well for the rest of her life.</div><div><br /></div><div>When I think of Susan Hayward, I think of President Richard Nixon and his background growing in rural and poor California in the 1920s when a lot of America was actually doing very well economically, but where most of that economic wealth was in big cities like Boston, New York, Chicago, and other big cities not in rural California hundreds of miles out of Los Angeles.</div><div><br /></div><div>I think of President Nixon giving his farewell address where he says: "Only when you've been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain." President Richard Nixon from August, 1974 the day he left the White House after resigning the presidency, because of is involvement in the Watergate coverup.</div><div><br /></div><div>Susan Hayward, was able to reach the mountaintop in Hollywood and to go down as not just one of the greatest actresses in her generation, but who ever worked in Hollywood because she grew up in the deepest valley in America. And to know what it was like to live on the bottom not knowing where your next meal was coming from and would you even have a home the next month.</div><div><br /></div><div>Not that I would recommend poverty to anyone, but when you have nothing is does teach you a few positive things like how important hard work and success are and what it means to earn what you get. <br />
When I think of the Grand Ole Party ( and saying that with a straight face anymore is getting very difficult ) I think of a Conservative Republican Party that was hawkish when it came to not just Communists and communism, but authoritarians and authoritarianism in general. That actually believed deficits matter. ( Which night sound crazy in the Trumpian Republican Party today ) That actually believed not only in entitlement reform, but that it was necessary. That if Republicans as a party are going to believe in and support programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid that they should all be on sound fiscal footing and not blow up the deficit.<br />
<br />
It was a party that believed that race, ethnicity, and gender didn't matter. Which why it supported the civil rights laws of the 1960s while opposing affirmative action in the 1970s, because the GOP believed that people shouldn't be promoted, demoted, empowered or denied simply because of their race, ethnicity or religion. A party that not only believed in immigration, but that anyone regardless of what country or region of the world, regardless of their race or ethnicity should be allowed to come to America legally if they work hard and contribute to America and obey our laws.<br />
<br />
A party that was strong on defense, but didn't believe America shouldn't try to police the world and try force our values on other countries and tell them this is how they should govern themselves. For the most part this Republican value is still in place with the Neoconservatives thanks to the Iraq War losing almost all influence on Republican foreign and national security policy. A party that still believed in limited government even with the Christian-Right becoming a force in the party, but that still believed in that Barry Goldwater line that said he didn't want big government in our wallets, bedrooms, boardrooms, or classrooms.<br />
<br />
That was the Republican Party that I grew up. I come from a Democratic family, but that's what the Republican Party use to be and what the Republican Party was when I grew up. And expect for the national debt and deficits, President Ronald Reagan believed in most if not all of those values. He did have his own big government issues with the national debt, deficits, and his expansion of the War on Drugs in the 1980s, but basically he represented and lead what was the Grand Ole Party very well in the 1980s. This is not the Republican Party today and I when I think of RINOS, ( Republicans in name only ) I believe in so-called Republicans who don't even really believe in the concept of a republic and instead want to create a fundamentalist Christian society where their religious values are not only dominant, but become official government policy.<br />
<br />
The GOP is not dead. You still have the S.E. Cupp's of the world, as well as Republicans like Margaret Hoover, Amanda Carpenter, Tara Setmeyer, Bill Kristol, and a few others at CNN. They're still some GOP Republicans in Congress like outgoing Senator's Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, outgoing Speaker Paul Ryan, incoming Senator Mitt Romney once he takes his Senate seat in the next Congress. But the Republican Party today is now the Donald Trump Nationalist Party. That puts groups of Americans against each other and no longer preaches about America being the city on a shining hill. And instead preaches that, "you're either with us or against us." Meaning you either support President Donald Trump, or you're Un-American and a RINO.<br />
<br />
The Republican or Nationalist or RINO Party ( depending on how you want to label the modern Republican Party ) is now the party that represents the 1950s that was reborn in this century, but come from the 1950s culturally and ideologically. Where women's place in the world is at home, African-Americans and other non-Anglo-Saxons are second-class citizens if citizens at all. Gays are either locked in the closet, or locked in prison or some mental institution.<br />
<br />
Today's so-called Republican party is really now an anti-conservative party, because they now believe character and morality doesn't matter just as long as you either serve, back, or defend President Donald Trump and the people who support the President. And that instead of defending and supporting the status quo and and conserving our individual rights which is what Conservatives are supposed to support, they now want to blow up the system and establishment and create a society and establishment that supports them and what they being the Trump Nationalist movement supports and believes in.<br />
<br />
If you read Joshua Green's The Devil's Bargain, he reports and argues that the Republican Party Leadership and base got in bed with Donald Trump in 2015-16, because even though they were aware of all of Donald Trump's faults when it came to his lack of character and civility, that if he became President with a Republican Congress and Judiciary that they would get from a President Trump the things that they've been fighting for and wanted ever since Barack Obama became President. Things like deregulation, tax cuts, judicial appointments, a larger defense budget, etc. And that every time President Trump would do something that's unconventional ( to be kind ) or irresponsible, reckless, anti-conservative like appeasing dictators, they would just chalk it up to Donald Trump not being a conventional politician and new to Washington. Which is exactly what' we've seen the last two years with Donald Trump as President.<br />
<br />
The GOP is not dead, but they're not unfortunately now a small faction of the Republican Party. The never-trumpers are what left of the Grand Ole Party. They're the Republicans ( not RINOS ) who believe that deficits and the national debt actually do matter, expect for perhaps Bill Kristol who is a Neoconservative. They don't just support entitlement reform, but believe it's necessary. They support legal immigration and believe it benefits the country and aren't worried about America losing it's European culture because they don't believe one race or ethnicity is superior to any other. They by enlarge don't want big government in our economic or personal affairs. I've argued for a while now that the Republican Party is no longer a conservative party, but party with a conservative faction and the Donald Trump experiment and his movement make that argument for me perfectly.<br />

Chelsea Bain, is one of the cutest and sexiest country music performer performing and around today. Also one of the most beautiful and reminds me a lot of Miranda Lambert as far as her style of music mixing in classic rock with her country sound. Mustang Sally, is obviously referring to the Ford Mustang and cars like that along with NASCAR racing is very popular with country culture with Americans who live in rural America, as well as Americans who live just outside of rural America. Who don't live in major cities or metros, but don't live in farmland either and kind of between a major city and in rural country where you won't see a city with even 50,000 people for hundreds of miles.<br />

Ohio, is a state that has major cities like Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo, but they also have a lot of small towns in-between that aren't in the country, but are small industry, blue-collar, factory towns and towns like this are the heart of the Donald Trump base, but also the heart as well as rural America for country music. And these are towns where NASCAR will be very popular and where country music is very popular and where someone like a Chelsea Bain will be very popular and would perform there.<br />

I'm not an expert on Chelsea Bain, but I love country girls and she's one of the best. I love the way they look, move, have this to be frank no bullshit mentality about them and don't take anything from anyone and are very honest with their music and use to express how they feel and how they're doing in life. I'm not a fan of country music, especially when it's pure country music, but when it's mixed with classic rock and blues or when it's just classic rock and blues, but from a country person standpoint and how they look at the world, you have a very good sound. And that is what you get from Chelsea Bain as well as her beautiful, adorable, and sexy appearance.<br />The Daily Reviewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01266174709409124218noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099120981398678466.post-53712898886614940752018-10-26T12:44:00.003-07:002018-10-26T12:44:36.840-07:00Vanity Fair: How NYC's Richest Socialites Were Scammed By Anna Delvey<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

If you're familiar with The Billionaire Boys Club that was lead by Joe Hunt in the early and mid 1980s that was based on Los Angeles, the Anna Delvey story should sound familiar. Except that Anna Delvey was not an investor not even a fake investor like the BBC and Delvey hasn't murdered and spending the rest of her life in prison. What's she's apparently guilty of is scamming rich New Yorkers out of their money. Looks like she was supporting herself by just hanging out and partying with rich New Yorkers. With not a real job or income of her own.<br />
<br />

What she does have in common with Joe Hunt and the BBC is this need to be seen with what's known as the beautiful people. Very attractive, sexy successful, hip yuppies in New York who have the best of everything when it comes to material. The best looking and most expensive clothing, best homes, cars, go to the best restaurants, hang out and party with the most popular people, as is she's part of this crowd and his also a very successful yuppie in New York as well. When the fact the only thing she has in common with these people is a need to be seen living this lifestyle with these people. But someone on her own would struggle to pay for gas in her car and pay for a motel room at the Motel Six or some other place. Perhaps Bob's Motel and Diner in New Brunswick, New Jersey or whatever the location.<br />

The main problem that Ann Delvey had is that she had first class expensive taste, but with an income that couldn't even pay for a coach seat. The way she paid for her first class lifestyle was by convincing some I guess some seriously gullible New Yorkers that she was also very successful and wealthy on her own. Perhaps these people believe in Santa Clause as well and not sure about who murdered President John Kennedy. You would think people for their educational and professional backgrounds, would be smart enough to not get fooled by someone like this. And just see her as a wannabe celebrity party girl, groupie ( to use another term ) and just blow her off, but that didn't happen here.<br />

<br /><div>North Korea ( or as I call them the Communist Republic of Korea ) is really the last standing among the pure communist states around the world now. They’re the only communist state where everything and all the power in the country is centralized with the Communist Party and central government. The People’s Republic of China, has had a functioning hybrid capitalist economic for about 40 years now, while still maintaining some state-owned industries and they still qualify as a communist state because of their not just lack of free speech and a free press, but they still don’t have free speech or any free press.</div><div><br /></div><div>The Chinese Communist State, still owns and operates all the domestic media in the country. And of course opposition parties to the Communist Party are still outlawed. But even personal freedom with people being able to move freely around the country and make their own basic personal and even economic decisions for themselves in the country and being able to travel abroad, is on the rise and has been growing in China since they’ve moved in a capitalist first world direction economically and culturally the last 35-40 years.</div><div><br /></div><div>Mao Zedong, is one of the last of the pure Communists as someone who believed int total state-control of the society and not just the economy to work on behalf of the people so no one would be rich or poor. This is what Communists and Socialists are talking about when they say they want a classless society where no one is rich or poor. And they believe you achieve that by putting the central state in control of all the economic resources of the country. And that everyone would be taken care of as long as they follow the communist rules of society. Meaning you don’t disobey the communist regime and speak out against it or be politically active against it. </div></div>The Daily Reviewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01266174709409124218noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099120981398678466.post-55842011768999896652018-10-05T12:49:00.004-07:002021-06-01T00:25:30.885-07:00Mad Cap: LAMFF- 'Live To Ride, Ride to Lunch! Just on a personal note: Tricia Helfer has an adorable smile and voice. She could probably make weather reports sound interesting if the ever wanted to do that and make weather reports suddenly hit TV in America with millions of guys rushing home to see the 6 o'clock news just so they can see and hear her weather reporters. And Katee Sackhoff, is obviously adorable as well which makes them a very attractive duo on their worst days.<br />

Tricia Helfer and Kate Sackhoff, are longtime friends and go back to the early or mid 2000s when Katee was probably just breaking into Hollywood and they did Battlestar Galactica together which was the remake of the sci-fi show from the late 1970s and they're obviously good friends. Would've been nice to see Tricia on Longmire at least as guest star, but I guess that never happened. They're not just good friends, but very attractive good friends who like motorbikes. And they put this charity to where they ride their bikes for charity and ride them across the country. Similar to the Easy Rider movie from 1969 with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper, but in real-life and for charity.<br />

You're going to have a hard time finding guys who don't like biker chicks, especially when they're also gorgeous, sexy, fairly young, who are also this cute because they just look like they're meant to be on bikes with their long beautiful and in many cases especially with Katee Sackhoff very strong legs where you wouldn't want to get into an ass kicking contest with her because you wouldn't be able to sit down or go to sleep for weeks after the contest. Biker women are just very sexy. tend to be beautiful and look so sexy with their legs wrapped around a motorcycle with their tight butts on the seat. Katee Sackhoff, was born to ride motorcycles and this looks like the perfect event for her.</div>

<br /><div>Just to talk about Ann-Margret, she was so adorable and that really includes everything about her, but in this case especially it was her voice that caught my attention. She has this very sweet soft voice that reminds me a lot of Elizabeth Taylor as far as how she speaks to people. Which I'm sure was driving Johnny Carson crazy ( at least inside ) with him thinking something like she's too cute to also be this sexy. But that is Ann-Margret who is this very sweet, adorable, soft, and yet sexy and gorgeous woman. Very similar to Raquel Welch or Rita Hayworth from a previous era.</div><div><br /></div><div>As far as The Cheap Detective, it could've been called The Cheap Movie as well. Not a great movie, but with a great cast including Ann-Margret, but Louise Fletcher, Stockard Channing, ( talking about beautiful, adorable women ) Peter Falk who is the star of the movie and someone who if anything might have been even funnier than Johnny Carson, even though they would've made a great contest. It's a pretty funny movie similar to Columbo as far as the humor and funny people in it, but this is not one of Humphrey Bogart's great film noir humorous movies, but more like play on those movies.</div></div>The Daily Reviewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01266174709409124218noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099120981398678466.post-71459023502635442912018-09-21T12:46:00.005-07:002023-07-24T12:26:11.116-07:00Fred Flix: 'Old Commercials That Would Be Politically Incorrect Today'<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

The flat tire commercial where it's automatically assumed that the woman can't change a tire, certainly wouldn't play today. Back in 1955 or the ( the Utopia for the Christian-Right ) it was consider unfeminine for women to be involved in any form for physical work that's traditionally done by men. And since gays were still living in the closet including lesbians, gay masculine women weren't even around at least in public, so no woman back then was expected to do physical manly work. ( To make a politically incorrect joke ) So no changing the flat tires on the cars, or fixing appliances, home improvement, working on cars, construction work, nothing that would be considered manly. Women were expected to stay away from all of those activities in America.<br />

The commercial with the beautiful sexy women that looks like it came out in the late 1970s just from the color picture and how the hair and everything else looked, as a straight man I don't have any problems with that commercial. I could see why radical feminists would have a problem with it because they would view it as sexual exploitation. Taking advantage of women's sex appeal and beauty. But they probably see professional cheerleader squads as sexist as well even though none of these women are expected to participate in any of these activities. I could see why a commercial like that wouldn't play in San Francisco or New York or Boston, but don't know why it would be a problem anywhere else in the country.<br />

The cigarette and tobacco commercials, are not politically incorrect in anyway, because they're simply not offensive to anyone. The problems that they have with especially chewing tobacco is that tobacco and even tobacco cigarets are so unpopular today because so many Americans at least now know what tobacco does to you and the health risks that come from it. Tobacco unlike alcohol which is still very popular is becoming taboo in America. Even smokers won't smoke in their homes anymore especially if they have kids or if their spouse doesn't like tobacco. But back in lets say 1975 or whenever that commercial came out practically every American was smoking. You almost had to back in the 1970s to be considered cool or groovy, far out, hip, whatever the hip term was then.<br />
<br />
The commercial with the office secretary, kind of looks sexist to me, but in a funny way. Apparently the woman in the commercial is looking for a lunch date with her boss ( of all people ) and believes she can get that simply by wearing the right perfume or deodorant. Sort of implying that she's trying to move up in the company by being nice to her boss. If that commercial came out 10-15 years later or was part of a sitcom from let's say 1975-79 or even later, the commercial would've implied that the woman was trying to sleep her way to the top. I would see even as a hard core supporter for free speech who believes in almost no limits on it why that commercial could be seen as sexist.<br />
<br />
We just live in a very different world now as we did in 1955. In some ways free speech and personal freedom is even more popular now where women aren't expected to stay home and where couples aren't expected to get married before they move in together or have sex, or even have kids together. But in other ways even though our constitutional right to free speech is just as strong as it was 60-65 years ago, it's become less popular with young people. Who believe anyone who isn't a straight, male, Christian, Caucasian, has some artificial right not to be offended. Which of course is obviously not true, but you wouldn't know that from our current pop culture and even political culture. One of the reasons why Donald Trump is President of the United States, because you have millions of Americans probably tens of millions who are fed up with political correctness.<br />
